Hike4Trails is an idea I had to raise money while hiking long distance trails. Many of the long distance trails in America still need funding for purchasing land along the corridor. After walking these paths I feel the need to give back and this is what Hike4Trails is about.

I was born (in 1972) and reared in Alaska, and started hiking seriously in 1990. After high school, I moved to the Pacific Northwest and started hiking in the Cascades. My first knowledge of the Pacific Crest Trail was gained by hiking along it up around Three Sisters. Since those days I have spent the last 12 years guiding river trips all over the U.S. I would have never guessed upon moving to Vermont that I would become so interested in long distance hiking; however, the Green Mountains beckoned and I made my first thru hike on the Long Trail in 2002. I am very happy that I have had several years since then as well as several thru hikes to hone my equipment so that it is the lightest, most functional, and highest quality that I can buy or make.
It has been overwhelming thinking lately that I am about to begin a 2,663 mile journey. I am truly excited, yet that is quite a commitment. I have several reasons to keep myself focused on the goal: I am interested in raising as much awareness as possible through my website and by visiting with people whom I meet along the trail as well as communities I will be passing through, and I am interested in learning more about the specific areas that still need protection along the Pacific Crest Trail. Thank you for your interest and support.
